Local Summit and Job Fair for National Apprenticeship Week

my529 funds can be used for Registered Apprenticeships, which, according to this year’s theme for National Apprenticeship Week, are the “Superhighway to Good Jobs.” Locally, Apprenticeship Utah is celebrating National Apprenticeship Week with a local job fair on Nov. 14 at The Tower at Rice-Eccles Stadium on the University of Utah’s campus. The summit is from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and the job fair is from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Job fair participants include automotive, construction, health care, information technology, manufacturing, telecommunications, transportation, and utilities industries. Visit Apprenticeship Utah’s website to discover more about the event or register to participate. The event is not sponsored by my529.

National Apprenticeship Week is Nov. 13-19. The U.S. Department of Labor sponsors the week and chose the “Superhighway” theme because it “expedites the pathway into good jobs and improves diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in the workplace. It addresses some of our nation’s pressing workforce shortages in teaching, advanced manufacturing, clean energy, cybersecurity, and other high-priority sectors.”

The week’s daily themes focus on emerging industries, youths, women, underserved populations, and veterans and federal employees. You can explore Registered Apprenticeships and these specific topics on the National Apprenticeship Week home page.

In addition to Registered Apprenticeships, my529 funds can be used for all fees, books, supplies, and equipment required for participation. You can find more information on the my529 Registered Apprenticeship homepage.
