Fight the summer slide and win a scholarship

The end of the school year is fast approaching and summer will soon be here. Why not encourage the children in your life to spend some of those long summer days with a book?

my529 and the Utah State Library want to help you get your children reading and then enter your name in a random drawing for one of six $1,000 my529 college savings scholarship accounts. Their reading skills will stay sharp, and their efforts could win them a chance to boost their college savings.

New this year, the Book Your Summer reading award is offering six chances to win.

The Book Your Summer reading award is co-sponsored by my529, Utah’s educational savings plan, and the Utah State Library. Enroll your child in your local library’s summer reading program for a chance to win a $1,000 my529 college savings scholarship account. Six kids up to age 18 throughout the state will be awarded the scholarship accounts. Book Your Summer runs May 1 through July 31, 2023. Official rules and entry forms can be found at bookyoursummer.com.

A special offer

In addition to Book Your Summer, May 29 is National 5.29 Day and my529 is celebrating the entire month. my529 plans are a great way to save for future education costs. The money invested in a my529 plan can be used in a variety of ways to meet the individual needs of your family. Not only can these funds be used for tuition and fees, but they may also help cover the costs of qualified education expenses like housing, textbooks, computers and other required supplies. my529 funds can also be spent on registered apprenticeships, qualified education loan repayments up to certain limits and K-12 tuition expenses for public, private and religious schools up to $10,000 annually.

Let my529 help you and your student reach your education and savings goals this summer.
