Expenses drop for several underlying funds
It’s now less expensive for your clients who hold certain my529 portfolios, thanks to recent operating expense ratio reductions by Vanguard and Dimensional.
Vanguard lowered the expenses for 11 underlying funds used in the my529 Customized investment options, effective February 2, 2026. The estimated collective annual savings of my529 account owners invested in these funds is more than $608,000.
Dimensional also dropped expenses by one basis point for three underlying funds available in the my529 Customized offerings, effective February 28, 2026. For clients invested in these funds, the estimated collective annual savings totals $83,100.
Any changes in fund expenses are reflected in the lower cost of the corresponding my529 portfolios, as my529 passes the savings on to account owners.
