Executive Director Richard Ellis

Richard K. Ellis is the Executive Director at my529, Utah’s Educational Savings Plan. Previously, he was the senior director for compliance, communications, finance and investments at my529. Ellis served as Utah State Treasurer from 2009 to 2015, and Chief Deputy State Treasurer from 1996 to 2003 and again from 2006 to 2008, where his oversight helped Utah maintain its triple-A bond rating. Ellis earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Brigham Young University and a Master of Business Administration at the University of Utah’s David Eccles School of Business. Ellis serves on the Utah Retirement Systems board and chairs the Utah Land Trusts Protection and Advocacy Committee.
